Idaho’s Natural and Built Environments

President Biden signed the Infrastructure Investment and Job Act on November 15th, 2021, authorizing $1,200,000,000,000 ($1.2 trillion) for repairing existing public works and investing in new facilities and systems. Idaho will likely see billions invested this decade in roads, water facilities, forests, and energy. This work will address long-neglected needed repairs of existing structures and building resilience in a changing environment, and the legislation received bipartisan support.

With such sweeping legislation now on the books, this IEF program will take a look at some of the major aspects of the legislation and what it could mean to Idaho and the western U.S. in the coming years.
