PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Moving Past Gridlock
Each new household adds about 10 trips a day. Anyone who's driven to work during peak hour lately doesn't need to be told about congestion. Poor air quality and declining quality of life aren't what people want living in Idaho. Do we need more, bigger roads? Transit? How do we catch up with demand? How will Idaho address critical transportation needs for the future? Moderator: Mark Bowen, Panel members: Senator John McGee, Ray Stark, Mayor Garrett Nancolas, Commissioner Carol McKee
Powering Idaho’s Future
Idaho's existing and growing population needs multiple forms of energy. How will we provide energy; electrical, natural gas, and liquid fuels, for the existing and increasing population? Does climate change impact hydroelectric generation and our view on coal/gas or nuclear generating facilities? What about solar, wind, and geothermal? Can efficiency help change our energy future? Moderator: John Kotek, Panel members: Paul Kjellander, Commissioner Marsha Smith, Don Reading, Rick Johnson
Paying For Growth
Idaho continues to be one of the West's fastest growing states. This increasing population raises new concerns about who should pay for the increased public services and infrastructure needed to support this growth and maintain our quality of life. Legislative proposals, lawsuits, and new ordinances are addressing who should bear the burden of funding everything from affordable housing to transportation to open space. Moderator: Marc Johnson, Panel members: Senator Laird Noh, Rachel Winer, John Eaton, Mayor Phil Bandy, Commissioner Paul Woods |
